James Lafferty.

James Lafferty is an actor, director, writer and producer. Lafferty is most known for his work on the popular television series "One Tree Hill" as one of its lead characters during the show's successful nine-year (2003-2012) run on the CW.  Other television credits include a recurring role on NBC’s "Crisis" (2014) alongside Dermot Mulroney and WGN’s "Underground" (2016) starring Jurnee Smollett and Christopher Meloni.

In 2013, James starred in the hit feature film OCULUS, a horror film for Blumhouse Productions, which was reviewed as "one of the scariest American horror movies in years."  Lafferty would go on to act in three consecutive, but very different films, written and directed by the Nelms Brothers -- LOST ON PURPOSE (2013) with Jane Kaczmarek and C. Thomas Howell, WAFFLE STREET (2015) co-starring Danny Glover, and SMALL TOWN CRIME (2017) with John Hawkes, Anthony Anderson, Octavia Spencer and Robert Forster. Most recently, James starred in Netflix’s “The Haunting of Hill House” (2018) where he played a brief, but important, role in one of the main character’s storylines.

Most recently, Lafferty can be seen in National Geographic’s scripted series “The Right Stuff,” based on Tom Wolfe’s best-selling nonfiction book. The series, produced by Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way and Warner Horizon Scripted Television, stars Patrick J. Adams, Jake McDorman, Joe Dempsie, Aaron Staton, Michael Trotter, Micah Stock and James Lafferty as the seven astronauts who comprised the famed Mercury Seven. The series is streaming now on Disney+.

In addition to acting, Lafferty is a respected television director.  In conjunction with starring in "One Tree Hill," James also directed several episodes of the show.  Lafferty was also returning guest director for the popular Lionsgate TV series, "The Royals," and helmed several episodes over the course of the show’s four-year run.

Lafferty also continues to develop projects as writer and producer.   As a vehicle to encompass all of his passions, James created, wrote, directed and starred in the independent television series "Everyone is Doing Great." This project re-teams him with fellow "One Tree Hill" co-star Stephen Colletti, who also writes and acts alongside Lafferty. "EDG" was showcased at various festivals around the world including the ATX TV Festival in Austin, Texas, the Monte Carlo TV Festival, the New York TV Festival, SeriesFest in Denver where Lafferty and Colletti won "Best Comedy Writers" and Mammoth Film Festival where the show received the “Best TV Episodic” Award. After a successful Indiegogo campaign, “Everyone is Doing Great” was able to film the remaining episodes for Season 1, which was eventually acquired by Hulu (for domestic distribution) and Paramount Plus (for international distribution). On January 13, 2021, Season 1 (8 total episodes) of “Everyone is Doing Great” premiered online.
